Lufthansa Technical Training cleared to train Bundeswehr maintenance staff

Lufthansa Technical Training has received DEMAR-147 certification from the German Armed Forces’ aviation authority, opening the way for it to train technical personnel for military aircraft maintenance. The first approved courses cover theory training in the B1.1, B2 and C licence categories, with initial use expected in the German Navy’s P-8A Poseidon programme.

The approval gives Lufthansa Technik’s training subsidiary its first authorised role in Bundeswehr-related maintenance training. It is expected to support personnel qualification for maintenance and flight operations on the maritime patrol aircraft, which forms part of the German Navy’s future fleet.

The certification follows a process handled by the Luftfahrtamt der Bundeswehr and was first reported on 1 September 2026. A follow-up report the next day confirmed the same approval and identified the P-8A Poseidon programme as the first practical application. An expansion to practical training is expected later, extending the company’s scope beyond classroom instruction.
