EASA eases Jordan conflict warning after August calm, even as missiles intercepted

EASA has revised its Conflict Zone Information Bulletin for Jordan, lowering the airspace risk for the Amman FIR from high to medium and extending the advisory to 30 September. The update removes the earlier recommendation to avoid the Jordanian flight information region at all altitudes, allowing operators to assess flights on a case-by-case basis while keeping contingency planning in place.

The bulletin points to sustained kinetic military activity in Jordanian airspace during July 2026, followed by no kinetic activity in August, as the basis for the downgrade. Operators are still expected to maintain updated risk assessments and be ready to follow short-notice state instructions if conditions change.

The same day, Jordan’s military intercepted eight missiles that entered the kingdom’s airspace at dawn, destroying them before they threatened people or property. EASA also noted that Jordanian authorities had not published conflict-related airspace restrictions or route closures, but kept the area under a medium-risk conflict designation and left room for an earlier review if the situation deteriorates.
