Fly91 close to ATR order as India expands regional links

Indian regional airline Fly91 is close to ordering at least 20 ATR turboprop aircraft as it moves to expand its fleet, according to people familiar with the matter. The prospective deal would deepen the carrier’s use of ATR 72-600 aircraft and add capacity for short-haul routes in India’s regional network.

The order is expected to be part of Fly91’s broader growth plan as the airline builds out services from its base in Goa and targets more destinations across the country. The carrier began commercial flights in 2024 and currently operates ATR turboprops on about a dozen routes. It has previously outlined ambitions to induct 30 aircraft and connect more than 50 cities within five years.

ATR has not commented on the talks, and Fly91 has not immediately responded to a request for comment. The deal remains under discussion and the final aircraft count and timing could still change. Options for additional aircraft may also be included in the package.
