euroAtlantic Airways’ new chief executive, Pauls Calitis, is pushing a mixed Boeing and Airbus widebody fleet for the Lisbon-based ACMI operator as the carrier expands its Airbus presence. The airline, which had long relied on Boeing aircraft for long-haul work, added its first Airbus A330-200 in late 2025 and is now bringing in more A330s alongside its 767s and 777s.
euroAtlantic currently operates Boeing 767s and 777s together with A330s, and more Airbus aircraft are expected in the coming months, taking the fleet to eight aircraft with three A330s. Calitis, who joined in May after a career at airBaltic, is aligning the fleet plan with ACMI demand by offering a broader aircraft mix for different customer needs and more flexible long-haul solutions.
His background includes senior operational responsibility at airBaltic, where he was chief operating officer and briefly interim chief executive, with oversight of a sizeable ACMI operation. The Airbus addition forms part of a wider shift at euroAtlantic, which Calitis describes as giving the carrier new momentum as it strengthens its position in the widebody leasing and charter market.
