United Airlines is launching a daily nonstop service from Washington Dulles to Toulouse with flight number UA222, a choice that closely echoes Lufthansa’s long-running Toulouse service, LH2222. The route is due to start on 26 April 2027 and will use United’s Airbus A321XLR, adding a new US nonstop link to the southern French aerospace city.
The flight-number choice has drawn attention because Lufthansa’s Munich–Toulouse operation has become a minor aviation in-joke for its tongue-twister callout. United’s new service fits into a broader transatlantic expansion from Washington Dulles and gives Toulouse another direct long-haul connection to the US market.
United will operate the route daily, making it the only US carrier serving Toulouse nonstop from the Washington area. The A321XLR deployment underlines how the airline is using the long-range narrowbody to open thinner transatlantic markets that do not require a widebody aircraft.
