A Eurowings flight from Cologne/Bonn to Palma de Mallorca made an unscheduled landing at Paris Charles de Gaulle on Saturday evening after steam was detected in the rear galley. The Boeing 737, operated for Eurowings by Smartwings, carried 131 passengers and landed safely after the crew diverted the aircraft as a precaution.
The crew transmitted emergency code 7700 while the aircraft was south of Paris, then turned toward Charles de Gaulle because the jet was already close to the French capital. No injuries were reported, and passengers were later accommodated in hotels and rebooked onto later services. The aircraft was undergoing a technical inspection after the landing. Eurowings maintained that safety was never compromised during the incident.
