New South Wales backs Royal Flying Doctor Service with A$15 million

New South Wales will provide A$15 million to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service in the state budget, funding aimed at sustaining aeromedical and remote health operations across regional, rural and remote parts of the state. The package is intended to help the service continue delivering primary care, dental and mental health support, patient and clinician transport, and retrieval missions.

The funding forms part of the 2026/27 state budget and comes as the RFDS continues to serve communities with limited access to hospitals and clinics. The service has operated for 98 years and employs more than 390 staff, underscoring its role in the state’s regional health network.

The investment extends government backing for infrastructure that supports emergency transfers and routine care over large distances, where aircraft remain central to service delivery. No further breakdown of the budget allocation was visible in the available material.
