Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH has revised its capacity-expansion application and will place the updated documents on public review from 2 September, opening the door for objections until 15 October. The plan keeps the seasonal cap at 131,000 flight movements in the six busiest months, but would raise the scheduled and charter traffic allowance to as many as 128,000 movements and increase hourly runway flexibility to 60 movements when both runways are available.
If only the southern runway is in use, the limit would be 45 movements an hour. The airport is also seeking eight additional aircraft parking positions and expanded airfield operating areas. The revision is aimed at making better use of existing infrastructure, smoothing traffic peaks and reducing delays after thunderstorms or airspace restrictions.
The Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf will handle the public review as the formal hearing authority, giving nearby residents and other stakeholders a chance to comment on the revised plans. The updated filing does not alter the overall cap on annual activity within the seasonal framework, but shifts more capacity toward line and charter operations.
