Ceiba Intercontinental is planning to acquire six new ATR 72-600 turboprops in a move intended to support the Equatorial Guinean flag carrier’s fleet renewal and network recovery. The preliminary deal would cover factory-new aircraft for domestic and regional services, with deliveries reportedly scheduled from July 2029 to October 2030.
The arrangement remains a principle agreement rather than a final purchase contract. Reporting indicates that Ceiba Intercontinental and ATR have reached an initial accord, while Equatorial Guinea’s finance ministry would guarantee the airline’s payment obligations. The estimated value of the transaction is about $138.65 million.
The aircraft are expected to strengthen links within Equatorial Guinea and help restore routes across Central and West Africa, including services to Cameroon, Nigeria, Gabon, Togo, Benin and the Republic of the Congo. The plan follows broader efforts to stabilise the state-owned carrier after years of operational strain and limited fleet availability.
