Qantas opens new Sydney training centre for emergency procedures

Qantas has opened a new Emergency Procedures Training Centre at its Mascot campus in Sydney as part of a A$100 million investment in training infrastructure. The facility is designed for pilots and cabin crew across Qantas, Jetstar and QantasLink, with more than 10,000 staff expected to train there each year.

The ground-based centre focuses on emergency procedures training and sits alongside the group’s wider simulator network. Qantas has positioned the site to support current fleet training as well as upcoming aircraft types, including the Airbus A350-1000ULR for Project Sunrise. A second emergency procedures training centre is also part of the investment programme in Perth.

The new Sydney site adds capacity as Qantas expands its fleet and training requirements. It brings together practical training equipment and classroom facilities for cabin and cockpit crew, helping the group shift more training activity into dedicated purpose-built infrastructure at Mascot.
