Telemark Air is being set up as a new regional carrier in Norway, with Liberty Aviation identified as the project’s founder. The airline plans to base operations at Notodden Airport in Telemark and is discussing an initial Notodden–Bergen route, using Saab 340 turboprops. A Copenhagen service is also under consideration as part of a wider regional network.
The project is expected to be presented publicly soon, but no launch date, operating schedule or frequency has been confirmed. The focus on Notodden points to a niche role in domestic and short-haul links in southern Norway, where regional air services remain limited and connectivity can depend heavily on ground transport.
The use of Saab 340 aircraft would place the carrier in a familiar turboprop segment for thin regional routes, with an aircraft type suited to short sectors and lower demand. Any move into Copenhagen would extend the network beyond Norway and suggest an ambition to build cross-border regional traffic rather than remain a purely domestic operator.
