Lion Group opens Batam Aero Engine in Batam

Lion Group has inaugurated Batam Aero Engine in Batam, adding a new maintenance, repair and overhaul facility for jet and turboprop engines and auxiliary power units at Hangar F of Batam Aero Technic. The launch expands Indonesia’s domestic engine-maintenance capacity and is aimed at reducing dependence on overseas repair shops.

The facility was opened on 19 August and brings engine and APU work in-country for Lion Group’s aviation operations and other operators. Capt. Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi, president director of Lion Group, joined Batam city and civil aviation officials at the opening, which was framed as part of a broader effort to build Batam into a regional maintenance centre. The new business unit is also expected to support local aviation jobs and supply-chain activity, with reports indicating it had already drawn about 160 workers as of the launch period.
