SalamAir to open first base in Salalah in October

SalamAir will open Salalah’s first airline base at the end of October, extending its presence in Dhofar beyond seasonal services and adding direct international capacity from southern Oman. The low-cost carrier will initially deploy Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft on flights from the city to Jeddah, Chattogram and Calicut, under its Winter 2026 schedule.

The move follows a stronger focus on Salalah during the 2026 Khareef season, when the airline increased support for travel to and from the destination. By basing aircraft in Salalah rather than serving it only as a destination, SalamAir is aiming to improve year-round connectivity for residents, expatriates and visitors.

The base also fits within SalamAir’s wider network expansion as it continues to grow its footprint in Oman and beyond. The airline’s fleet of 18 aircraft gives it the flexibility to support the additional operations without reducing its existing network commitments.
