Air Cambodia is due to take delivery of its first two COMAC C909 regional jets in November, with the Chinese-built aircraft set to enter the carrier’s Phnom Penh-based regional network. The first arrivals will come from a broader fleet programme covering 20 aircraft, under an agreement that has made the Cambodian flag carrier the first foreign airline to place a bulk order for the type.
The remaining firm-ordered C909s are scheduled to follow in stages through 2029, with two more due in 2027, three in 2028 and three in 2029. The aircraft are intended for short-haul services within Southeast Asia and on routes to China, supporting Air Cambodia’s network expansion and fleet renewal strategy.
The order follows a purchase agreement signed in July after an earlier memorandum of understanding in September 2025 that covered 10 firm aircraft and 10 options. Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation has also been linked to the wider cooperation package surrounding the programme, which is expected to support operations, training and maintenance preparation for the new jet type.
