The U.S. Department of State has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Norway for 21 UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters and related equipment, with an estimated value of $2.3 billion. Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company based in Stratford, Connecticut, is named as the principal contractor in the proposed package.
The requested fleet includes engines, missile warning systems, radar warning receivers, radios, machine guns, winterisation and other non-major items, along with training, spares, logistics support and technical publications. If it proceeds, the transfer would also bring U.S. personnel and contractor representatives to Norway for fielding, checkout and training.
The notice frames the deal as a proposed sale rather than a signed contract, and Congress still has to review the transfer before it can advance. Washington said the package would strengthen Norway’s ability to meet current and future threats while improving interoperability with U.S. and allied forces. The government also said the sale would have no adverse impact on U.S. defence readiness, while any offset arrangement would be negotiated later.
