Ufo, the German cabin crew union, has criticised Lufthansa City Airlines and Verdi over the slow implementation of a tariff settlement covering pay and working conditions. The dispute centres on outstanding pay components dating back to April, a still unsigned part-time arrangement and unresolved company pension provisions, creating a fresh labour-management friction point at the Lufthansa Group unit.
The union’s criticism puts the airline and Verdi under pressure to complete the agreed changes more quickly. The delayed execution affects crew compensation and contractual certainty, rather than triggering a new strike threat or a breakthrough in bargaining. Lufthansa City Airlines, the regional carrier within the group, has been building up its operation as Lufthansa shifts more short-haul flying to lower-cost units.
The issue also underlines how implementation can become as contentious as negotiation in airline labour relations. With pay elements still outstanding months after the agreement was reached, the unresolved pension points and part-time terms now sit at the centre of the dispute.
