Ibom Air has completed a pre-delivery inspection of its third Airbus A220-300 at Airbus’s Mirabel facility in Canada, moving the aircraft closer to formal handover after a three-year pause in the carrier’s A220 intake. The jet is the second to arrive under Ibom Air’s 2021 order for 10 Airbus A220s and is expected to be ferried to Nigeria before being officially received in Akwa Ibom State and placed into commercial service.
Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno led the inspection alongside state officials and Ibom Air management. The aircraft will join the airline’s growing fleet as part of a wider modernisation programme, with the new A220 adding capacity after the earlier aircraft entered service and later underwent checks.
The delivery stream is set to continue once the latest aircraft is accepted, bringing Ibom Air closer to its target fleet size of 10 aircraft. The process stops short of a completed handover, however, and no date has been given for the ferry flight or first passenger service.
