Lufthansa’s Frankfurt-to-Chicago flight LH430 made an unscheduled landing in Glasgow on Thursday after a passenger suffered a medical emergency on board. The Boeing 747-8 landed safely with 358 passengers aboard after the crew declared an in-flight emergency to obtain priority landing clearance.
The aircraft was met by medical personnel in Scotland, while Lufthansa arranged for the affected passenger to receive treatment before the jet was refuelled. The airline planned to continue the service to Chicago once ground handling was complete.
The diversion briefly disrupted the long-haul schedule on one of Lufthansa’s flagship intercontinental routes, with flight-tracking data showing the aircraft initially appearing to turn towards Dublin before Glasgow became the landing airport. The medical condition of the passenger was not disclosed.
