flydubai and Air Arabia have resumed limited flights through Iranian airspace after previously avoiding the route, with the change tied to coordination involving Iran’s civil aviation authorities and Oman. The move applies to selected regional services, including UAE-linked routes, and flydubai has also received a seasonal permit for use of the airspace.
The reopening appears partial rather than network-wide, with routing still restricted to specific corridors and subject to ongoing review. flydubai has already used the eastern corridor on some flights, including the Dubai-Baku sector, where the shorter path can cut journey times and fuel burn compared with detours through neighbouring airspace. The development follows continued consultations over safety oversight and route management, while reporting on Air Arabia indicates it has also begun using Iranian airspace again on some operations.
