A technical partial outage at Zurich Airport reduced operational capacity for arrivals and departures on Wednesday, disrupting Apron Control functions and forcing the hub onto a manual fallback procedure. The system affected departure planning, electronic coordination with Skyguide and Eurocontrol, and stand planning, while delays were expected and general aviation traffic was largely suspended to keep commercial flights moving.
Technicians were working with the supplier to restore the system, and extra staff had been deployed to limit the disruption. The airport had already recorded delays and some cancellations the previous day, when eight landings took place outside operating hours and the last arrival came in at 23:55. The cause of the outage was still under investigation as operations continued at reduced throughput.
