Wizz Air will open a new base at Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport in central Romania in December 2026, making it the carrier’s 10th base in the country. One Airbus A321neo will be stationed there to support four new routes to Chișinău, Barcelona, Madrid and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, while the existing Nuremberg service will be resumed or increased from late October.
The move expands Wizz Air’s Brașov network to 15 destinations across seven countries and deepens its footprint in Romania, where it already operates a large domestic presence. Brașov-Ghimbav, one of the country’s newest airports, has been served by Wizz Air since 2023. The additional capacity is expected to strengthen direct international links from the Transylvania region and add more options for point-to-point traffic from a market that has become increasingly important to the airline.
