Airbus A320neo suffered rare triple-hydraulic failure on Air India Phuket-Delhi flight

Airbus has identified a rare, brief loss of hydraulic pressure across all three independent systems on an Air India Airbus A320neo operating flight AI2379 from Phuket to Delhi on 4 August, in a preliminary assessment of the incident. The aircraft lost about 300 feet before recovery and later landed safely in Delhi, while 24 people were reported injured in an event now treated as a serious incident by Indian investigators.

The analysis indicates that normal elevator and aileron control was unavailable for roughly four seconds as the Green, Blue and Yellow hydraulic systems were affected in quick succession. Airbus has not confirmed a final root cause, and the technical work remains preliminary.

The manufacturer has recommended further inspections and operational checks on hydraulic systems, pressure switches, transducers, leak-measurement switches and related structures. The findings have drawn attention because a near-simultaneous triple-hydraulic event on the A320neo is highly unusual and carries direct safety implications for operators of the type. The aircraft’s systems later recovered, allowing the crew to stabilise the jet and complete the flight.
