Lufthansa is planning two daily Airbus A380 services between Munich and Bangkok for part of the 2026/27 winter schedule, with the superjumbo frequencies currently filed from 16 January to 27 February 2027. The move would give the airline a rare twin-A380 operation on the same long-haul route and lift capacity on one of its strongest winter leisure markets.
The additional rotation is expected to be used because demand in the next winter timetable appears strong enough to support it. Bangkok is already a key Lufthansa winter destination, and the Munich route has become the carrier’s main way of serving the Thai capital from Germany, while Frankfurt relies more heavily on Thai Airways codeshare options.
The timing also comes as Lufthansa continues retrofitting its A380 fleet, a programme that runs through 2027. During the summer schedule, Munich–Bangkok is typically flown with an A350, making the winter deployment of two A380s a notable capacity shift for a limited period.
