Bluebox Aviation Systems and SkyFive have formed a partnership to combine inflight connectivity with passenger engagement tools aimed at helping airlines generate ancillary revenue from air-to-ground services. The arrangement links SkyFive’s connectivity platform with Bluebox’s Blueview suite for retail, advertising and onboard commerce, creating a package designed to improve the passenger experience while opening new commercial channels.
The partners plan to integrate Blueview through SkyFive OpenServer, with Blueview Cloud available where the connectivity environment supports it. The setup is intended to enable personalised content recommendations, dynamic advertising, order-to-seat retail, live payments and connected onboard shopping without treating connectivity purely as a network expense.
The move reflects growing airline interest in using connectivity as a digital revenue platform rather than only a cabin amenity. It also gives carriers a more flexible route to assess return on investment from onboard connectivity, with the commercial emphasis centred on monetising passenger engagement across the flight rather than limiting the service to internet access alone.
