Vertical Aerospace has secured about $100 million in financing commitments to advance certification and commercialisation of its Valo eVTOL platform. The London- and New York-listed company plans to use the funds to push toward Critical Design Review, the stage that defines the certifiable design baseline and opens the way to building and testing certification-conforming aircraft.
The package combines $40 million linked to Mudrick Capital, a $35 million underwritten equity offering of units and a $25 million preferred equity facility with Yorkville Advisors Global. Part of the capital remains subject to planned drawdowns and settlement timing, making the exact closing status of each component important.
The funding is also tied to wider programme work, including expansion of battery production capacity at the Energy Centre and preparation for future manufacturing. Vertical has separately indicated that Critical Design Review is expected by year-end 2026, alongside continued flight-test activity and production readiness work in the UK.
The financing follows a year in which the company completed major flight-test milestones, including a piloted transition flight with a full-scale aircraft and public demonstrations at Farnborough. Those developments give the funding added operational relevance as Vertical moves its Valo programme deeper into certification and early commercial preparation.
