Flight tickets rose 8.5 percent on average in the first half of 2026, with the sharpest increases on routes to Central America and within Europe. Operators, particularly low-cost carriers like Ryanair and Wizz Air, are raising fares while thinning flight schedules to preserve margins amid rising costs and softer booking rates. Average prices for three-month advance bookings now range from 71 to 97 euros, with single tickets reaching 494.99 euros. Although Germany’s air transport tax drops back to May 2024 levels from 1 July 2026, potentially cutting short-haul fares by roughly 10 percent, overall ticket prices remain elevated. The sector faces constrained capacity due to aircraft delivery delays and high location costs, limiting availability for both corporate and leisure travelers.
