Etihad Nears $2B Boeing 787 Order Ahead of Farnborough; Confirms Fastjet Zimbabwe Tie-Up

Etihad Airways is in advanced negotiations to acquire 10 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners, a deal valued near $2 billion, with an announcement expected at the Farnborough International Airshow from 20 to 24 July 2026. The potential order supports the carrier’s Journey 2030 strategy to expand its fleet beyond 160 aircraft, though variant specifics and final contract terms remain unconfirmed as talks continue. Concurrently, Etihad has signed a memorandum of understanding with Fastjet Zimbabwe on 7 July 2026 to establish an interline partnership, future codeshare, and loyalty tie-up, enabling single-ticket travel to Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, and Johannesburg. Sales under the partnership commence 24 August 2026, ahead of Etihad’s nonstop Abu Dhabi–Harare service launching 24 March 2027.
