Malaysia Airlines Adds Shenzhen and Changsha Routes to China Network

Malaysia Airlines launched two new nonstop routes from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen and Changsha, expanding its China network to nine destinations amid surging travel demand. The Shenzhen route began 1 July 2026 with flight MH522, while Changsha services commenced 8 July 2026 via MH520, both operating up to daily frequencies. The airline deployed Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft for both links, signaling a narrow-body strategy for these secondary Chinese markets. This expansion supports trade, tourism, and the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, reinforcing KLIA Terminal 1’s role as a Southeast Asia–China connector. Previous destinations include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Chengdu, with Chengdu flights restarted in January 2026 after a nine-year hiatus.
