Western Sydney International to start domestic flights on 25 October 2026

Western Sydney International will open to passenger traffic on 25 October 2026, with Jetstar set to launch the airport’s first domestic services. The carrier’s inaugural commercial flight from the airport will be JQ362, marking the start of scheduled operations at Sydney’s new 24-hour hub.

The initial network covers Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Cairns, with Jetstar planning up to 14 weekly flights to Melbourne, four to the Gold Coast and three to Cairns. The opening gives WSI an immediate domestic footprint and establishes the airport as a capacity release point for the Sydney basin, where slot constraints remain tight at the existing major airport.

The launch now moves from construction milestone to operating reality. The next test will be how quickly carriers scale beyond the first wave of domestic services.
