Airbus Helicopters has unveiled the U145, a new uncrewed variant of the H145, at ILA Berlin. The aircraft appears as a full-scale mock-up and is pitched as a flying mothership, able to carry and launch smaller drones from onboard.
The concept targets military missions and emergency operations, with roles in ISR, combat support and training. Airbus says the first test flight is planned later this year under human safety supervision, putting the programme into an active development phase rather than a paper study.
The debut in Berlin signals a sharper Airbus push into uncrewed rotary-wing systems. For operators and procurement teams, the question now is how fast the concept moves from mock-up to flight-ready architecture.
