United Airlines passengers can now access their personal Spotify accounts through seatback screens on eligible Starlink-equipped flights. The feature is rolling out across those aircraft, with United planning to extend Starlink connectivity to half its fleet by next spring. Spotify’s expansion to additional aircraft is expected to continue through 2027; neither company has provided an aircraft-by-aircraft schedule.
Passengers connect a phone to United’s Wi-Fi, open Spotify on the screen and scan a QR code to pair their account. They can resume saved music, podcasts, audiobooks and videos, browse recommendations and save content. A phone can also serve as a remote. Login details are entered on the phone rather than the shared seatback screen, and accounts are logged out automatically at the end of the flight.
Spotify Free and Premium users can access the app, although features vary by plan and market. The service does not require a Wi-Fi pass or MileagePlus sign-in. United introduced a curated Spotify collection onboard in June 2025; more than 2.3 million customers have since used Spotify content on its flights, for a combined 1.9 million hours.
Starlink is available on more than half of United’s daily flights, and the airline expects installations to be completed by the end of 2027. It also plans to increase its seatback-screen total from more than 181,000 to over 219,000 by that year’s end.
