Aircraft lessor Avolon has finalised an order for 140 Boeing 737-10s, the largest 737 MAX purchase by a lessor, taking its unfilled 737 MAX backlog to more than 240 aircraft. The order gives Avolon additional capacity to meet airline demand for larger single-aisle aircraft and support fleet growth and renewal into the next decade. No order value or delivery schedule was disclosed.
Boeing reported that lessors placed firm orders for more than 230 737-10s in 2026, five times the variant’s lessor backlog at the end of 2025. The aircraft can carry up to 230 passengers and has a range of 3,100 nautical miles (5,740 km). Boeing describes it as offering the best per-seat economics of any single-aisle aircraft; that assessment is the manufacturer’s claim.
The agreement follows Avolon’s October commitment for 140 737 MAX aircraft, when the variants had not been specified. As of 30 September 2026, the lessor had an owned, managed and committed fleet of 1,092 aircraft, serving 138 airlines in 62 countries.
