VÆRIDION raises €30 million and secures conditional EU grant selection

Munich-based electric-aircraft developer VÆRIDION has raised €30 million in a Series A2 round and been selected for a proposed €94.5 million European Commission Innovation Fund grant for its CAROLUS project. The grant is not yet final: a funding agreement remains to be signed, which the company expects in 2027. Equity proceeds will support a conforming prototype of its nine-passenger Microliner; the proposed grant would fund a final-assembly facility at Oberpfaffenhofen Airport.

SHIFT Invest and Invest-NL led the equity round. Existing investors World Fund, Project A and Vsquared Ventures also participated, alongside other investors. The €30 million is equity financing; the potential grant is a separate, conditional source of support, not completed funding.

VÆRIDION plans to use the round to build its first conforming aircraft and conduct integrated battery and propulsion testing. The company’s next step is to install the battery packs and propulsion system on a ground-test rig. Wind-tunnel work is also intended to support prototype development and preparations for flight testing. The company has a production and test facility at Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich.

The Microliner is designed for regional routes, with a target range of 400 km carrying nine passengers under IFR conditions. VÆRIDION says it is developing the aircraft to EASA CS-23 requirements. It reports commercial commitments for more than 130 aircraft, valued at over €730 million, with ASL Group as launch customer; these are company-reported commitments, not completed sales or deliveries. Certification, production scale-up and finalisation of the grant agreement remain ahead.
