Patriot Dynamics orders six LEAP spare engines and selects MTU for maintenance

Fort Lauderdale-based Patriot Dynamics has agreed to buy six CFM International LEAP spare engines, split between three LEAP-1A engines for the Airbus A320neo family and three LEAP-1B engines for the Boeing 737 MAX. The aviation asset trading and leasing firm is entering the newer-generation spare-engine market alongside a 10-year maintenance agreement with MTU, with work and on-site support based at MTU’s Fort Worth, Texas, facility.

The purchase commitment emerged in the week before it was reported on 2 November. MTU’s agreement covers maintenance, repair and overhaul of LEAP engines, as well as on-site support. The companies are also exploring further engine leasing and asset-management arrangements through MTU Maintenance Lease Services.

Patriot specialises in trading and leasing engines, landing gear and auxiliary power units. The six-engine order adds spare capacity for two of the largest narrowbody aircraft families, while the MTU contract establishes a long-term support arrangement for the LEAP portfolio. The purchase details were reported by Aviation Week; MTU’s public announcement confirmed the maintenance agreement.
