Lufthansa City Airlines awaits first A220-300 in November

Lufthansa City Airlines is preparing to take delivery of its first Airbus A220-300 in November, with aircraft D-ACAA nearing completion at Airbus’s Mirabel facility in Canada. The aircraft, manufacturer serial number 55501, is the first of 40 A220-300s ordered for the German carrier. No handover date has been confirmed, and the aircraft is expected to join the airline’s Frankfurt fleet from early 2027.

Lufthansa Group has options for a further 20 aircraft. The A220 is configured for 148 passengers and powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines. It will become the second aircraft type in Lufthansa City Airlines’ fleet, alongside the A320 family.

The addition is intended to support fleet modernisation and the replacement of older A319s. The airline has not specified the A220’s initial routes or when it will enter passenger service.
