Lufthansa Group increased third-quarter 2026 revenue by 9% year on year to €12.2 billion and adjusted operating profit (Adjusted EBIT) by 6% to €1.4 billion, despite fuel costs rising by €543 million. Strong passenger demand and cost discipline helped offset the increase. The group narrowed its full-year Adjusted EBIT outlook to €1.7 billion–€2.0 billion and raised its expected fuel bill for 2026 to €9.3 billion.
At its network airlines, fuel costs rose by more than €400 million. Average yields increased by about 7%, with premium travel and routes to Asia and North America among the strongest areas. The group expects healthy demand in the fourth quarter. Fuel hedging covered around 86% of its passenger airlines’ requirements for 2026 and more than 60% for 2027.
Results from the cargo and maintenance businesses also strengthened the quarter. Lufthansa Cargo tripled Adjusted EBIT to €162 million, while Lufthansa Technik raised it by 54% to €200 million. The higher fuel-cost estimate and narrower profit range reflect the pressure that fuel prices and geopolitical conditions are placing on the group’s 2026 earnings outlook.
