Belarus is still considering establishing air links with the United States, but no route has been approved and no timetable has been set. Igor Golub, director of the Aviation Department at the Ministry of Transport and Communications, linked the discussions to Washington’s easing of restrictions on Belavia. The comments renew Minsk’s public interest in US flights, without indicating that operations are imminent.
Belavia was removed from the US sanctions list in November 2025, while remaining subject to European Union sanctions. The change in US restrictions does not by itself confirm that the airline can launch direct service. Belarusian officials have also called for broader cooperation and the removal of remaining restrictions.
Valentin Rybakov, Belarus’s permanent representative to the United Nations, identified work still needed before direct flights could begin, including security, certification of aircraft and pilots, crew and airport arrangements. Those issues remain under discussion; no aircraft, operating arrangements or launch date have been confirmed.
