Nine killed in Learjet 60 crash in Florida

A Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on 1 November, killing all nine people aboard. The aircraft had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas for North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas when it came down at about 12:50 p.m. near Cresthaven, in the Greenacres area. The impact sparked fires and caused extensive damage in a residential neighbourhood; no ground casualties were immediately reported.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating, with the NTSB leading the inquiry. The cause had not been established, and authorities had not publicly identified those aboard or clarified how many were passengers and how many were crew.

The crash site was near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North. The aircraft struck a mobile-home neighbourhood, scattering debris and prompting road closures in the area. Local officials reported significant damage, while initial accounts reported no confirmed deaths or injuries on the ground.
