Chapman Freeborn arranges MIAT 787-9 lease for Air Congo

Chapman Freeborn arranged a Boeing 787-9 lease between MIAT Mongolian Airlines and Air Congo, with the 292-seat aircraft arriving at N’djili International Airport in Kinshasa on 27 October and scheduled to enter service on 31 October. Its three-class cabin has 30 business-class, 36 premium-economy and 226 economy seats. The aircraft is intended to support Air Congo’s fleet development and passenger capacity.

Chapman Freeborn’s ACMI and Leasing team assessed Air Congo’s operating and capacity requirements, identified MIAT as a partner and coordinated negotiations and delivery. The arrangement gives Air Congo additional capacity for its passenger operations, although the lease duration, financial terms and aircraft registration have not been disclosed.

Aviation Week reported that the aircraft is being wet-leased and replaces a Boeing 787 previously supplied by Ethiopian Airlines. Chapman Freeborn’s announcement does not specify which carrier provides the aircraft’s operational services, so the precise operating arrangement has not been confirmed in its account.
