Boston MedFlight has ordered three Airbus H145 helicopters to modernise and expand its air-medical fleet serving New England. The twin-engine aircraft will join the nonprofit critical-care transport organisation’s all-Airbus operation over the coming years, replacing existing helicopters while supporting incremental growth in around-the-clock emergency medical missions.
The order takes Boston MedFlight’s cumulative purchases of the H145 to 12. The new helicopters will be integrated into its existing aviation network, transporting critically ill and injured patients between regional healthcare facilities and directly from emergency scenes.
The latest H145 variant features a five-bladed bearingless rotor that increases useful load by 150 kg, according to Airbus. The design also simplifies maintenance and improves flight smoothness for patients and medical crews.
Each helicopter is powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines and equipped with Airbus Helionix avionics and a four-axis autopilot. Airbus did not disclose delivery dates, the transaction value, the aircraft configuration or which existing helicopters will be replaced.
