Piper PA-46 owners and pilots gathered in Colorado Springs from 8 to 11 October for the 2026 Piper M-Class Owners & Pilots Association convention, combining safety education, technical training and peer collaboration. More than 100 participants qualified for PMOPA’s Master Aviator programme, while the event’s sessions addressed operational risks and aircraft needs across Piper’s single-engine piston and turboprop M-Class fleet.
The safety programme examined PA-46 accidents and incidents, including lessons for pilots, as well as the risks of overreliance on cockpit automation. Caitlin McCarthy led introductory and advanced training within PMOPA’s M-Class Standardized Instructor Pilot programme, supporting the association’s emphasis on recurrent and standardised instruction.
More than a dozen technical sessions covered piston and turboprop operations, maintenance, avionics and flight-planning applications. A Conversation with Piper Engineering gave attendees an opportunity to raise aircraft requirements directly with company officials. Piper also highlighted progress towards extending the M600 and M700 Fury airframes’ service life to 10,000 hours, with FAA approval expected in the second quarter of 2027. The convention provided a forum for practical operating guidance while maintaining communication between PA-46 operators and the manufacturer.
