People’s Airline will send its sole aircraft, an Embraer 170, for an extensive inspection from 27 October 2026, prompting Helvetic Airways to operate the carrier’s year-round Altenrhein–Vienna service. Helvetic will deploy an Embraer 190 from St. Gallen-Altenrhein, although runway-related weight restrictions will prevent the larger aircraft from being sold at full capacity.
The E170 will fly from People’s base in Switzerland to Düsseldorf, Germany, where Nayak will inspect the landing gear and aircraft structure. People’s managing director Thomas Krutzler described the work as planned and expected its duration to be manageable, while warning that additional repairs could prolong the aircraft’s absence.
Helvetic’s E190 has approximately 112 seats, compared with 76 on People’s aircraft. Its available capacity at Altenrhein will nevertheless be restricted by the airport’s runway limitations, leaving some seats unsold. Helvetic will also provide the aircraft and crew, with the associated costs already budgeted by People’s.
The replacement period has not been fixed. People’s currently expects Helvetic’s support to continue until around the end of November, while Helvetic is planning to cover the winter timetable from late October through the end of March 2027. The Altenrhein–Vienna route is People’s only year-round service.
