Lufthansa assigns ten A350-1000s to Munich

Lufthansa will operate the first ten of the Lufthansa Group’s 15 ordered Airbus A350-1000s from Munich, creating a new larger-A350 subfleet at its Bavarian hub. The first aircraft, registered D-AIFA and named Deutschland, is due from Airbus in Toulouse in mid-November. After final preparations, it is scheduled to carry passengers from Munich to Tokyo Haneda on 3 December 2026, with Shanghai and Singapore to follow in the subsequent weeks.

The aircraft will introduce Lufthansa’s Allegris long-haul cabin on the A350-1000. The type will offer 300 seats in the airline’s stated configuration, 33 more than its A350-900. The additional capacity will support services from Munich to major Asian markets while complementing the hub’s existing A350-900 fleet.

Lufthansa Group has ordered 15 A350-1000s, with deliveries planned through 2030. The operator and base for the remaining five aircraft have not yet been assigned. The initial allocation therefore places the full first tranche with Lufthansa’s mainline operation rather than another group carrier, while Munich becomes the aircraft’s first operating base.
