Long queues continued at Copenhagen Airport on Friday after Denmark’s Civil Aviation and Railway Authority, Trafikstyrelsen, ordered temporary additional security checks. Waiting times reached at least 30 minutes in the morning, while some passengers reportedly waited more than two hours and missed flights. SAS had rebooked 352 passengers, and Norwegian Air Shuttle reported around 200 affected passengers on Thursday evening.
The disruption began on Thursday as the airport introduced the enhanced procedures across its terminals. Queues extended towards the metro station, with delays affecting Terminals 1, 2 and 3. The airport deployed additional staff, but heavy passenger demand, including travellers from Sweden ahead of autumn school holidays, added to the congestion.
Trafikstyrelsen confirmed that an inspection had identified circumstances requiring temporary supplementary measures, but it did not disclose the specific issue. Copenhagen Airport expected the procedures to remain in place at least through the weekend and advised passengers to arrive two hours before European departures and three hours before flights outside Europe. Norwegian had 16 Copenhagen departures scheduled for Friday morning and urged travellers to allow substantially more time than usual.
