Lockheed Martin Expands Advanced Munitions Manufacturing in Texas, Driving Thousands of New American Jobs

Lockheed Martin plans to create 6,000 jobs across the United States, including 2,000 in Texas, as it expands advanced munitions manufacturing at its Grand Prairie operation. The $300 million project will increase the site’s footprint beyond 735,000 square feet and add capacity for components supporting PAC-3 MSE, THAAD, PrSM and JATM programmes, with production feeding final-assembly facilities in Arkansas and Alabama.

The expansion includes 100,000 square feet of new space and the conversion of 85,000 square feet of offices into advanced-manufacturing areas. It will focus on automation, digital manufacturing and high-precision machining. Hadrian is providing a 24-machine automated machining cell, which Lockheed Martin employees will operate when it becomes operational in early 2027.

More than 30 additional high-precision machines are already producing thousands of components each week, while nearly 100 advanced machines are expected across the facility by the end of 2026. Grand Prairie currently employs nearly 800 production workers and produced 250,000 parts in 2025.

The Texas investment forms part of Lockheed Martin’s broader plan to spend $8 billion to $9 billion through 2030 to expand or modernise more than 20 US facilities. The 6,000 positions remain a planned employment increase; no detailed hiring timetable or wage information has been provided.
