GOL to suspend Florida flights as fuel costs drive network cuts

GOL Linhas Aéreas will reduce its network from February 2027, temporarily withdrawing from Florida and suspending selected international and domestic routes as aviation-fuel prices rise. The Brazilian carrier will end flights from Brasília and Fortaleza to Orlando and from Brasília and Belém to Miami, while its New York-JFK service is expected to remain its only US destination, operated with an Airbus A330-200 by Wamos Air under a wet-lease arrangement.

Other international services being removed include Rio de Janeiro–Montevideo, Fortaleza–Montevideo, Rio de Janeiro–Asunción and São Paulo–Guarulhos–Punta Cana. The changes also affect domestic routes. Reports differ on the overall scale of the reduction, citing either 11 routes or a broader total of 19; GOL has not publicly detailed every affected domestic sector.

GOL attributes the adjustment to successive increases in jet-fuel prices, which it says have doubled and now account for about 40% of operating costs. The carrier plans to retain passenger connectivity through connecting flights and partnerships, supported by more than 60 codeshare and interline agreements. No date has been established for the possible restoration of the suspended routes.
