French aircraft manufacturer DTA Aircraft is promoting its JP1 two-seat hybrid-electric multicopter at NBAA-BACE 2026, targeting business-jet owners seeking personal transport between home and an airport. The company is using the Las Vegas convention to seek U.S. dealers, flight schools, maintenance partners and additional buyers, while preparing to assemble the aircraft in Arizona.
DTA Americas, the French company’s U.S. subsidiary, has brought the JP1 test aircraft to Scottsdale, where it remains grounded pending an FAA experimental airworthiness certificate for research and development. Piloted flight testing is planned once approval is secured. DTA Americas co-founder and chief executive Théo Parant said some business-jet owners have already placed pre-orders.
The JP1 has eight electric motors on four carbon-fibre booms, four battery packs and a single-rotor rotary engine that drives a generator for in-flight recharging. DTA claims two hours of endurance, a range of 156 nautical miles with two occupants or 235 nautical miles solo, and a 90-mph cruise speed. Maximum take-off weight is 1,146 pounds.
The tandem-seat aircraft incorporates a whole-airframe ballistic parachute, an autopilot and propulsion redundancy intended to allow continued flight after the loss of up to four propellers. More than 200 hours of uncrewed, remotely controlled testing have been completed in France, where the aircraft was registered as a heavy drone. The JP1 can be narrowed from 10 feet to 8 feet for road towing and has motorised rear wheels for garage access. No certification or entry-into-service date has been disclosed.
