Air Greenland will discontinue its seasonal direct service between Billund and Nuuk after the 2026 summer season, removing the western Danish airport from the airline’s direct Nuuk network. From summer 2027, passengers will continue to have direct options from Copenhagen and Aalborg, while Billund travellers will need to connect or use the remaining Aalborg service.
The Billund–Nuuk route is scheduled to operate through 25 October 2026, with one weekly Wednesday departure during the current season. Air Greenland introduced a direct seasonal link from Billund to Kangerlussuaq on 29 March 2023, providing western Denmark with its own connection to Greenland. The Billund–Nuuk service subsequently returned for the 2025 summer season.
Air Greenland’s commercial director described Jutland as an important market, indicating that ending the Billund service does not represent a withdrawal from the region. The airline will retain its seasonal Nuuk–Aalborg connection, while Copenhagen remains the principal Danish gateway to Nuuk.
The available information does not specify the final operating date beyond the 2026 season, future frequencies, aircraft allocation or the commercial rationale for the cancellation. The change will primarily affect passengers in Jutland and western Denmark, who will lose a direct route to Greenland’s capital from Billund.
