Air Greenland establishes Greenland Handling subsidiary

Air Greenland has established Greenland Handling A/S to consolidate its ground-handling activities in Greenland, with the subsidiary taking over existing operations on 15 October. The new company has more than 140 employees and will handle passengers, aircraft and cargo in Nuuk and Ilulissat, while providing passenger handling in Qaqortoq, Sisimiut and Upernavik.

Greenland Handling will operate as an independent Air Greenland group company focused on ground services. Its structure is intended to support targeted investment in employees, operational expertise and equipment as Greenland’s airport network undergoes major development.

Kunuunnguaq H. Overgaard will lead the subsidiary. Greenland Handling is also expected to pursue contracts with other airlines operating at Greenlandic airports, rather than serving only Air Greenland flights.

Existing handling agreements will remain in place until the end of 2026, after which the subsidiary is expected to establish individual agreements with airlines. The arrangement with Aviator at Copenhagen Airport is unaffected: Aviator will continue handling Air Greenland’s aircraft there, while Greenland Handling initially concentrates on domestic operations in Greenland. The company’s launch follows the introduction of new airport infrastructure and expanded international operations in Nuuk and Ilulissat.
