Air Calédonie has received an additional six months to complete its restructuring, after the Nouméa Commercial Court extended the observation period in the financially troubled New Caledonian regional airline’s court-supervised proceedings until mid-April 2027. The extension is intended to support completion of a restructuring plan and help stabilise the carrier’s regional flight operations, with about 220 jobs at stake.
The court approved the extension on 8 October, following an application supported by Adanc, the state air-transport agency and Air Calédonie’s principal shareholder. The airline entered judicial restructuring proceedings on 14 April 2026, placing it under court protection while administrators assess its prospects and work on a plan to address its financial difficulties.
The additional time keeps the proceedings in place beyond the initial observation period and gives Air Calédonie scope to restore more stable operations while its future structure is determined. The carrier is a key provider of domestic air services across New Caledonia, linking the main island with outlying communities.
Details of the proposed restructuring plan, including its financial terms and the airline’s current liquidity position, have not been disclosed. The court’s full reasoning for the extension is also unavailable.
